About
NovaHelm is a fullstack framework for teams who want to move fast without giving up control. 26 MIT-licensed packages that replace months of infrastructure work.
Origin Story
NovaHelm started as an internal toolkit — the same authentication, billing, job processing, and admin scaffolding rebuilt on every new project, project after project. The same decisions, the same bugs, the same integration work.
After the fourth time wiring Stripe webhooks into a BullMQ queue, it was time to extract this into something reusable. The first version was a handful of packages shared across projects. Over time it grew to 26.
We open-sourced NovaHelm because the problem is universal. Every independent developer and small team faces the same six-month infrastructure tax before they can write their first line of product code. NovaHelm eliminates that.
Mission
All 26 packages are MIT-licensed. No license keys, no build-time gates, no vendor lock-in. Self-hosting is always free.
TypeScript from database schema to frontend component. Catch errors at compile time, not in production.
Auth, billing, storage, AI, realtime, jobs, mobile — everything pre-wired and documented. Ship features from day one.
Open Source Philosophy
We follow the WordPress model: the core platform is free, and revenue comes from the ecosystem around it. This means premium templates, managed hosting, and enterprise support — not paywalled features or usage quotas.
The business model is designed so that your interests and ours stay aligned. When NovaHelm is genuinely useful, some teams will want templates to move faster, or hosting to avoid managing infrastructure. That's how we fund continued development of the open-source core.
We don't take VC funding by design. External capital creates pressure to monetize aggressively — to add feature gates, to push enterprise plans, to optimize for growth over developer experience. We'd rather grow sustainably and keep the core free forever.
Revenue Model
Managed hosting for teams who don't want to run infrastructure. Includes Postgres, Redis, storage, and auto-deployments.
Advanced capabilities like Kanban, Gantt, Creator Studio, and production-ready project templates.
Dedicated infrastructure, SLA guarantees, SSO/SAML, and white-label options for larger teams.
Team
NovaHelm is developed by DevEngaged, a small software company focused on developer tools and open-source infrastructure. We believe the best software is built when developers own their stack — not when they're renting it.
We welcome contributors of all experience levels. Whether you're fixing a bug, improving docs, or building a module — contributions are how the ecosystem grows.
